---> Bionic Fiber Recipes for prebiotic power in your day for both you and your gut flora

Please migrate over there for all the latest news on the gut microbiome, studies, diagnostics, and gut protocol strategies for health optimization.

We had an awesome turnout that was beyond capacity for the premiere ticket holders at PaleoFX this year: 'Shifting Your Gut Microbiota and Your 100 Trillion Friends for Leanness and Fat Loss'. Thank you for everyone that attended! The slides may be downloaded at TheGutInstitute.com (enter email). I am considering with Matt Pepin, my Gut Guardians co-host, to send out a monthly Gut RxTracts with a compilation of the latest gut news, research abstracts, book reviews, and all things poop and gut related. How does that sound? I'd love to know which topics you find most interesting.

A couple of things I mentioned at PaleoFx:

Prescript Assist, the only probiotic containing 2 strains of Bacteroides that is missing in nearly every study in overweight and obesity microbial signatures, one of the root problems in the obesity epidemic. This probiotic and other soil probiotics helped my family and I overcome gluten, dairy and other food intolerances so we could consume again on rare occasions without severe gut, brain or digestive issues.
The company just the other day announced their evolution to ENVIRO MEDICA (no longer Magnetic Clay)! I love it! Congratulations!!

AO Biome, soil probiotic topical spray: Nitrosomonas, live Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacteria (AOB). It produces more NO, nitric oxide, a vital signalling molecule important for not just athletic workouts and sex ahah.
"This living product is a first, not only for our company, but for the industry as a whole. We created it to counteract the damage that modern lifestyles and products have on the biome, which often lead to irritation, sensitivity, and more. Our patented beneficial bacteria is similar to a probiotic, and it works to enrich your skin’s natural environment, gently restoring harmony to the skin. Specifically, it actively converts the byproducts of our skin (such as sweat) into beneficial ingredients, leading to skin that looks and feels great. "

The HENRY Bar~!! My kids designed an energy bar that they will actually eat that's not full of non-Paleo junk. Thank you to my master tasters who gave it unanimous thumbs up -- my sisters, best galpals, Matt Pepin, Dr Emily Dean, Robb Wolf and CSA MMA gym (Kieran). Nearly all organic and non-GMO, the Henry is full of goodness like our puppy which it's named after. Check out TheGutInstitue.com later for more updates or contact me directly to get a box (I have some complimentary ones to send out!)

Abundant in wonderful ingredients (some are not part of 7 steps -- dairy and nuts):
  • 17 grams isomalto-oligosaccharides (for fat loss, leanness and losing gut-leakiness) which is also found in fermented foods like natto, sake and fermented soybean sauce (bibimbab, jajiang noodles)
  • 16 grams pastured, grassfed whey protein
  • 10 grams carbs from 85% organic chocolate, cashew butter, almond butter, dates and quinoa crispies

NEW SITE  TheGutInstitute.Com for the latest in microbiome, gut flora, science, podcasts and more!

Lots of good news! I'll have to go check out the site. And the energy bars are intriguing - I'm always in the market for a healthy snack that doesn't load me up on the baddies.

I bet your bars will be fantastic- I would love to try them! Chocolate and cashews- yes!! It's more difficult than it seems it should be to find a bar that doesn't have something gross about it, be it an ingredient, a load of sugar, or the taste. I will keep an eye on the blogs for their release :)

Iso-malto stuff always gives me the runs. Do you have any idea where yours comes from? It is kind of scary stuff to me!

For manufacturing IMO on commercial scale, food industries using variety of starch processed from different cereal crops like, wheat, barley, corn, pulses (peas, beans, lentils) oats, tapioca, rice, potato and other starch sources, thus providing a wide range of flexibility to consumers who might have allergenic concerns or hypersensitivity toward certain type of cereal crops. The manufacturing process controls the degree of polymerization (dp) and the α(1,6) linkages to ensure consistent high quality of isomalto-oligosaccharide from alternate starch sources. The starch is first converted by means of simple enzymatic hydrolysis into high maltose syrup with di-, tri and oligosaccharides (2, 3 or more glucose units) having α(1,4) glycosidic linkages which are readily digestible in human intestine. These α(1,4) glycosidic linkages are further enzymatically converted into more digestion-resistant α(1,6) glycosidic linkages, that consequently confers the property of “iso” linkages between the glucose moieties of oligosaccharides and thus in formation of Isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO).

Hello there!
I've been cutting out RPS and GBP, Ive added the inulinrich yellow plantain to my regimen. Next week I'll reintroduce red lentils, cooked and cooled is the way right?
I can now compile the complete RS spectrum! Can you help me out grams-wise? So of RS, RS1, RS2 ans RS3. And should I take PA, P3 and Bifido with it?

Thank you times ten!

Dear Dr. Grace,

As I've understood from your writings, gut microbes have a lot to do with hormone balance and immunity. So I would like to ask if you know how to fix estrogen dominance and low immunity (I have both igG and igM below the reference range). Is it some specific bacteria I should be feeding or should I just eat all kinds of probiotics and fiber and hope for the best? Are there any specific actions that I could take to improve these problems? And would it be beneficial to test my gut bacteria first (uBiome)?

Also, do you know if changing gut bacteria will change the bacteria in mouth as well? I seem to have plenty of unwanted bacteria living in my mouth: despite of impeccable oral hygiene, I easily get caries and persistent gingivitis (although the latter is mostly due my current pregnancy). There are some probiotics especially designed for dental health (they usually contain S. salivarius K12 and/or S. salivarius M18) but they don't seem to work at all.

Thank you for all the information so far! I hope you'll find time to enlighten me on these matters :)

Kind regards, Kaisa

Hey Kaisa

Feel free to contact me on the 'contact' tab at thegutinstitute.com

The oral biome can reflect the gut biome and vice versa. Did you ck out the 'FLO' program at biome for pregnant women? Free kits were given for a while.

Many things can be helpful and food-based while you are pregnant to optimize the gut flora which will aid both hormones and immunity.

Look forward to hearing from you soon
